If you are interested in being a vegetarian because of moral issues, or because you just want to lose weight and feel better you aren't the only one. In the world there is a growing interest in vegetarianism.

Now lets take a look at some of the main reasons people want to be a vegetarian. Some of the physical reasons are because of the list of diseases that are enhanced by meat, colon cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, and arthritis . Also, many poisons gather in meat, because animals are on the top of the food chain that are relying on pesticides and other chemicals. The flesh of an animal is loaded with poisonous blood and other harmful products.

I don't know if that is enough to make you want to try a vegetarian diet, but there is more. You do not need to eat meat to survive. You can get almost all of the proteins, vitamins, and minerals that you need without eating meat. Diets of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products would be more than enough to provide you with what you need. Have you ever tasted a vegetarian Indian dinner, vegetarian Chinese, vegetarian mexican, or vegetarian Italian food? Although it is possible to be a vegetarian and be overweight, it is alot more difficult.

A vegetarian diet is not a fad diet that you will do for a period, but something you can do and be part ofyour entire life. There are many other reasons why vegetarian diets are a logical way of dieting. The moral and social reasons are because we all love our dogs, cats, and other pets. We see them as animals who are part of the family. Other animals, cows, pigs, chickens, lambs are also animals and they too wish to live. If we can live our lives without hurting them, then why should we eat them.

Last, but not least our earth is small and has very limited resources. Supplying humanity with meat takes a huge toll on our environment. It makes more sense for us to get nourishment from plant proteins rather than harvesting different sorts of grains, and then feeding it to the animals. Every single year millions and millions of people die, because of hunger in other countries, while thousands die of diseases which can be avoided due to overeating the wrong kind of foods. In this Century, we need to do better than that. The increase of the vegetarian diet may be the best way to correct this problem. So, think for a moment and try a vegetarian diet. It will help you to slim down, feel good and make you consider the other creatures living on planet Earth. So, yes vegetarian diets can be good for weight loss and health.
