In the US about 65% of the people are overweight have a weight issue or even being Obese. For a person to be healthy, a person must eat enough food to get a good supply of all the key nutrients. These nutrients consist of:
1. Carbohydrates Carbohydrates are converted into sugar or fuel.
2. Protein Protein which is broken down into amino acids.
3. Fat Fats are broken down into fatty acids.
The nutrients then make a trip around the body to be used as needed. For a person to be healthy, they must eat enough food to get the right amount of all the key nutrients. There are guidelines that the government publishes for at least 20 or so different vitamins, minerals and nutrients and they are based on population studies, where they look at the health of the general population and find out what people eat and drink on a normal basis. Food in general is just a carrier for nutrients to the body. In the US about 65% of the people are overweight have a weight issue or even being Obese. Obese is defined as being 100 or more pounds overweight. In our society, the number of people being obese is increasing every year. You can show a person in black and white what foods are good for them and what isn't and it pretty much comes down to their own decision making to eat or drink healthy foods or not.
It really helps to have a mentor, or fitness trainer, or just a friend where there is some kind of help when it comes to eating healthily. People need support and one reason there are so many weight loss programs is that they do something a little different, they have meetings and people get together to help each other. It speaks volumes that if we are going to lose weight and keep it off we need support. You should not be on a diet to lose weight, you need to be making a healthy lifestyle change. It means finding a new way to eat and create new healthier habits even for your everyday activities. The best way to change bad eating habits is to do it slowly. If you try to change everything at once, it will seem overwhelming and too hard to stay focused. Try changing one thing at a time. Just like alcoholics, one day at a time. Instead of eating that chocolate energy bar on day, eat a piece of fruit and a small container of yogurt. Fruit is natures snack food, it is also much cheaper. Once you're happy with this change, then move onto another one. When you've got your diet figured out, then you can look at getting some exercise into your life. It doesn't have to be a quick change you just need to understand more about what you are eating, the value that it has, and the nutrient value of the foods you eat.
There is evidence that people who are obese are genetically pre-disposed to it. That doesn't mean that there is nothing that they can do to lose weight. While genes are not an excuse for bad lifestyle choices, it is however a reason why they are more likely to become overweight. Emotions and stress are also things that get factored into it. When people get depressed or overworked, they lose sleep because they are trying to get work done, or something has happened that they feel bad emotionaly. When this happens they simply end up eating more than they normally would, partly to try to make themselves feel better and because they are so tired, that their body is craving more energy, which is food. The way we can avoid emotional eating is knowing what to eat, how much, and what is healthy for you. You also need to get enough rest. These are all things that factor in to a healthy lifestyle. I hope you enjoyed reading this healthy weight loss guide for healthy living.
